SMART Ranger Training Feb 2021
Junglekeepers' mission is to protect wildlife and habitat before it is damaged or destroyed. One of the best tools we have to do this is making sure our rangers are trained in the SMART ranger system (which stands for Spatial Monitoring and Reporting Tool). This gives our rangers the ability to rapidly respond to illegal activity, as well as construct a comprehensive data set on the habitat and species they protect.

Our ranger team!

We are proud to report that Junglekeepers was the first ranger team in South America to use cell phones as an interface for the SMART in Peru, and became a pilot project for SERNANP.

Our rangers continue to train and update their knowledge of the SMART system. In Feb 2021 we recently held a training course on implementing the newest methods and strategies through SMART mobile. Smart is used in more than 750 protected areas in 60 countries around the world in an effort to protect wildlife and forests worldwide. Junglekeepers are proud to implement this groundbreaking strategic technology to protect the western Amazon!
